Japanese aesthetic can be categorized into one of five different design concepts. They are short and minimalistic, leaving it open to varied interpretations. In this Fall/Winter 2016 collection, Alto menswear embraces the concept of “Kanketsu”; the notion that the true simplicity of beauty is often achieved through a complex process of utilizing ones creativity. Although launching a brand new label into the market requires an incredible amount of dedication and countless hours of labour, once an urban outfitter puts on an Alto piece and feels the confident embrace it brings, true aesthetic bliss is accomplished. The collection is inspired by the Japanese art and master pieces of Kintsugi. The catching name how ever, references the designer’s Hispanic heritage and translates into “higher” in Spanish. Alto aims to target the men’s streetwear market and allow young extroverts to reach their highest potential through a timeless, high quality wardrobe that will leave them looking like confident well dressed gentlemen who no longer have to sacrifice style for comfort.
